Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
